About Every Choice Matters
Every Choice Matters (EveryChoiceMatters.org) is a free national educational and community platform founded in 2026 by John Hayden — a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and 30-year healthcare industry leader based in Connecticut. The site was built on a single conviction: that the decisions young people make every day, in every area of life, have real and lasting consequences — and that every young person deserves access to the tools that help them make better ones.
The platform serves teens, students, young adults, parents, educators, and youth leaders across all 50 states. It is completely free — no subscriptions, no paywalls, no ads. Every piece of content, every interactive tool, and every resource is available to anyone with an internet connection.
Every Choice Matters covers 12 core life-skills topic areas including financial wisdom, personal responsibility, character and values, health and wellness, career readiness, education, relationships, and leadership. The site features 13+ interactive tools — including decision-making simulators, habit-building challenges, a life-planning experience, a financial literacy game, and a private recovery guide for teens who have made a poor choice and need a path forward.
Beyond education, Every Choice Matters operates a full suite of free community features: ECM Local (community classifieds across 10 categories), a Community Help Board (peer-to-peer assistance across 52 categories), a free Job Board (20 categories, indexed by Google Jobs), a Community Events Calendar, a Business Directory, a Home Service Pros directory, the Community Savings Card discount program, and a Community Partners program for businesses that want to support the mission.

About the Founder
John Hayden is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and 30-year healthcare industry leader who founded Every Choice Matters to give young people the decision-making tools he wished had been more accessible when he was growing up.
His career spans military service, executive healthcare leadership, and community advocacy. He has seen firsthand how a single poor choice — or a single great one — can permanently alter the trajectory of a young person's life. That conviction is the foundation of everything at EveryChoiceMatters.org.
John hosts a free weekly Saturday morning encouragement meeting open to anyone, and offers free one-on-one mentoring sessions through the site's Talk With John program.
