What Is Every Choice Matters?

Every Choice Matters (EveryChoiceMatters.org) is a free national educational website dedicated to helping teens, students, and young adults understand how their daily decisions shape their future. It was founded in 2026 by John Hayden โ€” a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and 30-year healthcare industry leader based in Connecticut.

The site covers 12 core life-skills topic areas, a 20-module Life Skills Academy, 13+ interactive tools, a free job board, a community events calendar, a business directory, ECM Local community classifieds (10 categories), a Community Help Board (52 categories), a Home Service Pros directory, and the Community Savings Card program. It also features 13+ interactive tools โ€” including decision-making simulators, habit-building challenges, a financial literacy game, a life-planning experience, and a private recovery guide for teens navigating the aftermath of a poor choice.

Everything on the site is completely free. No subscriptions. No paywalls. No ads. Every resource is available to anyone with an internet connection, anywhere in the United States.

Why This Site Exists

Most young people are never explicitly taught how to make good decisions. They learn about algebra and history โ€” but not how to manage money, handle peer pressure, recover from a mistake, or build habits that last. By the time the consequences of poor choices arrive, it is often too late to easily reverse them.

Every Choice Matters exists to close that gap. The site gives young people โ€” and the parents, teachers, and mentors who guide them โ€” a free, accessible, judgment-free space to learn, reflect, and practice the skills that lead to a better life.

The core belief behind everything here: it is never too early to start making better choices, and it is never too late to start over.
